This is a great school backpack and much better quality than what you would get from walmart or target for this price. This is not a daypack and if I had bought it for that purpose I would have been disapointed. But as a school backpack its great

This backpack is ideal for day biking trips. It's large enough to carry food, a foldable rain jacket, first aid kit and other essentials. Plus the pocket in the main compartment fits a 50 ounce Camelbak hydration bladder without a problem. A larger bladder would also fit, but I would make a cover for the bladder and sew an additional elastic to make sure it was secure.
The size of the pack is perfect for a shorter person but would also, I believe, accommodate someone with a larger frame without a problem.
    Excellent value, well made !

I bought this as a "go bag" alternative to carrying a shoulder bag or messenger bag stuffed with all the junk I carry - laptop, notebooks, etc. My old Jansport pack is just too huge and not at all stylish for a working adult to carry around town. It looked small when it arrived and it IS a lot smaller than packs meant for students but has plenty of room for the stuff you would need for a day. I usually carry too stuff anyway and there's not much reason to carry more than this bag holds. If you're a throw-in-the-kitchen-sink person like me it will force you to edit what you lug around. It would also be a great bag for a day hike, with room for a fleece, water and lunch. As the other reviewer said, the inside pocket only goes about halfway up the bag so I can see how it wouldn't be great for holding a water bladder secure but I think that feature is more meant for laptops. All in all, a good-looking day bag for women with a small or medium frame and the Mountainsmith tag adds the cool/casual factor to let people know you pound more than pavement on the weekends.

My daughter has been using this pack for a month so far and I couldn't be happier. It's just the right size without being unwieldy, has perfect details for pens, pencils, zip pocket inside main compartment for money, treasures, and it's holding up great with zippers and abuse from a 10 year old. I am on line now looking for one like it for my older daughter since hers is too small to hold her schoolwork and gym clothes.
