It's not a high impact running bra, wouldn't work for that, but it is cool and quite supportive enough for hiking. It is not thin and light, though, has a lot more fabric and heft than I'm used to, and I don't yet know how comfortable it'll be when the temperatures really soar. Your chest is protected from the zipper by a rather large and padded tongue which runs its entire length. Don't expect this bra to provide any shape, it pretty much just flattens and holds. The zipper makes it easy to get on and off.
