The calves only go a little over 1/2way down. They will work well for skiing and won't interfere with my ski boots, but for snowshoeing, I'll pick my other base layers so no gap between bottoms and socks. Love the color and the shiny seams. Seams are nice and flat too. They have a 'warm feel' that more technical baselayers don't always have too given the wool blend. Good quality.

No problem once I realized how well made this product was and at prices that couldn't be matched in retail ski stores or really anywhere for such a high quality, luxurious and functional garment. It will keep me warm under ski pants and as leggings with fun ski socks and winter apres ski boots under my other favorite winter garment, the down ski skirt. I've said in other reviews, the quality Neve products and STP prices keep me coming back for more! I'm hooked!

I don't want stylish capri underwear, I want warm ankles too! They were also not as skin-tight as I am used to from baselayers. If you con't like tight baselayers, or care that they don't cover your whole leg, these might work for you.

The fabric is stretchy, so it allows for movement. I love that the waist band does not cut in. I have some other wool base layer pants, but these are definitely my favorite. Highly recommend!
