These are perfect for working on the farm! Great traction and ankle support - My feet stay dry & no more slipping on grass/mud with the morning dew, hills, and those random holes and rocks. Even when it's hot and humid I just wear some nice wool hiking socks and the moisture just wicks away! I order... Read More

Bought these for my wife as she had worn out her Columbia hiking boots. New Balance products are excellent as both she and I have had several pairs, and these boots are also top-of-the-line. My wife says they are comfortable and attractive, and we both think they appear to be well made.
As usual, STP service was excellent. They were shipped and delivered immediately. We are both very happy with this purchase.

I'm a clutz so I need a sturdy shoe with good traction. I've purchased 5-7 pairs of this style from STP and I think these shoes are my favorite for the $80-$120 price range. The laces cut into my cankles a bit, but I think it's just because I have cankles. They would probably offer great support for people with ankles. I walk in these daily for around six hours and my feet feel fine and stayed dry at the end of the day.

I use these for urban hiking every day. Lots of great things to say. Only drawback is that I have a narrow foot, and although I got the medium width, they are not as roomy as I am used to. Not a problem for me, but would be for someone with a normal width or above average width foot. Lot the light weight and solid construction.

Have only had a chance to wear these boots once so far, but it was a good experience. I purchased them because I already have a heavier pair for longer, more difficult hikes and wanted a lighter weight pair as well. I particularly wanted good ankle support and these boots do have that. Wore them on a 6 mile easy hike -- they did seem rather stiff, but hopefully will break-in as I wear them more. No blisters or hot spots though. Size seemed a little large - about 1/2 size, but with thick socks, no problem. Could have used a slightly wider toe box. It is difficult to find lighter boots with all the right features I seek (waterproof, high ankle support, etc.), but these come close. The soles seem to have good traction and the boots are sharp looking as well.

I wanted some boots that would give me ankle support as I had broken my ankle. I have been wearing a great pair of New Balance shoes for my hiking and they do give me adequate traction. These boots give me protection from wetness and do support my ankles. At first I was very skeptical that they were going to work - they felt stiff and the high tops bothered me and there appeared to be some pressure points. I tried a different pair of socks and the pressure points disappeared. After wearing them several days in a row in a non-hiking setting I found a comfortable way to lace them so the tops didn't bother me, the stiffness became less and I started really liking the boots. I have now worn them in wet, muddy and snowy conditions - no wet feet. I have also slipped off a rock and my ankle was totally protected! They aren't particularily warm but I have good socks to help with that.
