I am not light and I think I would have liked a bit more cushioning but these are solid and well made shoes with both good motion control and cushioning. When I stoped, the shoes had nothing to do with it. I have had a long experience with New Balance and once upon a time, I ran sub 4 minute miles in M997s and the quality and durability of the shoes has always been excellent. More to the point, they are consitent and I really appreciate that.
