I wet down the jacket I wanted to waterproof and then sprayed a 25% product with 75% water rather then wash a clean item. Worked great now my puffy shirt is waterproof.

Easy to use, and really works. My husband's ski jacket was no longer repelling water; washed it with this product and it's like new. My only complaint would be on the directions for usage, which were not on the bottle. Luckily I also purchased a different bottle of the waterproofing mixture as I wasn't sure which would be best for the ski jacket ( this one is..) and the second bottle had directions on it.

  • Question “Would this product be an appropriate one to add water proofing to a Carhartt jacket (100% cotton)? Or is there something more appropriate? Carhartt jackets have a slight water resistance to them but it's just not cutting it. After a few minutes of light rain or snow it just soaks right in.”

Asked on 1/18/2012 12:00:00 AM by Anonymous from Unknown
    • Answer I would not recommend the "soft shell" wash for a "hard shell" garment like a rain coat. I would recommend NikWak T.X Direct for hard shell jackets. I hope this helps.

  • Question “Does this product dye the fabric purple, or is it clear?”
Asked on 4/2/2010 12:00:00 AM by Anonymous from Unknown
    • Answer This is a clear liquid to wash your items in. A rule to remember with Nikwax is the purple bottles proof and the green bottles clean. The solution is always clear.
Answered on 4/26/2010 12:00:00 AM by Customer Care from Sierra Trading Post
    • Answer The product is milky white in the bottle and in the water but it didn't dye the fabric of my jackets at all. The only thing purple about this product is the bottle cap. My jackets (two jackets are military olive drab green, and one is blue) all came out exactly like they went in except now are fresh, clean, and super highly water repellent again. Worked so well I bought a second bottle of both Tech wash and Soft Shell Proof to have on hand for next time.
