I tried Nikwax and a competitor product (ReviveX Waterproof Soak) in a side-by-side test. What I found will not be conclusive until I wear the garments in the rain. But the latter product seemed to shed running water better after treatment. And ReviveX is a whole lot cheaper too. One 8 oz bottle is good for 8 treatments as opposed to 1 treatment with the Nikwax (requiring the use of the whole 8 oz bottle). I don't plan to use any more Nikwax products.

I've used this before and found it very servicable to renew GoreTex and equal breathable rain gear.
Recommend it highly for older garments that do not bead up, or feel clammy in rain because the pores have become clogged.

I washed 3 garments and they came out great. Like water off a duck's back!

This product did an excellent job of cleaning two shells which I washed according to the directions.

I used it on my hiking pants and even after several washing (in Tech Wash or Sport-Wash) the pants still repel moisture. It takes a mod to heavy rain to wet these pants through. They dry really quickly. I don't notice any change in look or feel of the fabric. I do not use rain pants as even the best of "breathable" make me just as wet with sweat. I would just change to whatever I had with me when I camped and wait for my pants to dry. Now in mod rain a good shake and my pants are basically dry.
