The product name is misleading, this is a specialized cleaner for breathable, highly water repellent garments. It is not itself a waterproofer. Commercial detergents damage many technical outdoor garments but techwash doesn't.
I started a standard size top loading washer and let it fill a few inches with water, then added a full 10 Oz bottle of Techwash and let the machine finish filling. Then added 3 soft shell jackets, all with various thicknesses of fleece lining, and two with hoods. All were worn regularly and showed it, two had small stains. Ran a regular wash, rinse, and spin cycle.
All 3 jackets came out great. Everything looks great, smells fresh, and beads water like new.
