The mesh is nice and well-placed (you wouldn't know it was there unless you were holding them up to the light and looking). they are a nice length: longer than a lot of athletic shorts but not so long as to tangle up your legs. They wash well, even when covered in mud prior to the washing. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is the lack of pockets. It's nice to be able to stash stuff and these shorts make that difficult. However, even without the pockets, I went back and bought a second pair since the first works so well.

I do a lot of hiking, walking and dog agility and these are perfect for all. I wear a 6 but ordered the medium because sometimes smalls lean more towrard the 4 vs 6. So they are a little large for me but with the tie waste with elastic it works.
