“Very wide legs”

“Having read other reviews, I was pleased to find the fit very flattering and true to size in the waist, hips, rise and length. I usually wear an 8 or 10 pant and the fit of the medium was really nice on me...except that the legs are so wide, the net effect is that they look like clown pants. As another reviewer noted, the fabric (I have the cayenne color) is beautiful. Since I sew a little, I played around with them in front of the mirror trying to see if I'd be able to take some of the width out of them, but I'm not sure enough I could do it without ruining the drape, so I'm unfortunately sending them back. With all the disparity in the reviews of this item, I'm now wondering if there's a lot of variability in the manufacture? Since I'm the only one who has commented on the wide legs, I'd recommend at least trying them on.”
