Obermeyer Rebel Forecast and Snowcord Suit - Waterproof Insulated (For Women)

There aren't very many snowsuits out there to purchase, so when I saw this one on Sierra Trading Post I thought I'd give it a try. First off, it is so cute! The belt is low, but not too low. I'm 5'7.5" and 135 lbs and the medium fits great. I don't think I can wear a heavy sweater underneath, it would be too tight in the shoulders then, but lightweight layers will be great. I haven't actually worn it out in the snow yet, but I'm hoping it will be warm enough because I hate to be cold. I bought it to ride snowmobiles so I'll have some movement but not as much as say skiing. If I remember, I'll post a follow-up review after I've used it for it's purpose. The only negative I have is that a couple of the closures are magnetic and they are easily opened. It's the flap at the top that is the worst, but it is secondary to a zipper so it shouldn't be that big of a deal.

I was very sad to have to return this due to size - I'm a size 2 and figured most ski clothing runs small. Unfortunately the 6 was way too big. I did love it and wished it was available in my size. The sleeves are great, fitted with a zipper. Not crazy about the belt - seems cheap but could easily be replaced with something cool like a vintage leather belt.

Amazing fit for me...long waisted enough and length also perfect (5'9"). Substantial but not really bulky. Vents to adjust for temperature/activity. Not the often seen extra size around the waist, which is good for me. Will likely replace the belt which requires too much time. Hood is roomy and adjustable; faux fur is removable. Expect it to hold up well in field with dogs. Washable.

I was dubious about a snow suit but this fit nicely. I have a long torso and low waist and most suits end up with elastic under my ribs but not this one. I like the low waist on this suit and the fact that there is NO elastic to deal with; although the hips are just a little snug the thighs are roomy. It is warm and I love the pockets. The suit is great for extremely cold weather (I've worn it in 10 degree with wind and wet), downhill, or just walking the dogs (with lots of pockets for treats!) The pants are nice and long and the gaiters are high and tuck into my boots comfortably. The suit does not get in the way of a pack. The fleece at the cuffs and neckline prevent drafts. The only cons are that the hood is cumbersome and my hair gets caught in the zipper and the plastic snaps seem to have a mind of their own and there are no pit vents. Other than that, this suit is a good investment.

Top big enough to add fleece underneath. Moves with your body. Hugs without constriction. Keeps you toasty warm! Legs could be slimmer. Can't see with hood on.

This is a wonderfull lightweight suit. I really didn't belive it would be warm enough but gave it a try! It fits well. The venting is great because you do build up a lot of heat even in very cold weather. I walked to work in weather I usually avoid and was very comfortable.

I enjoyed using this suit during my recent visit to Michigan. I spent several hours outdoors and did not get cold or even wet. I went cross-country skiing and even played in the snow and stayed quite comfortable. It was difficult to move around in this suit, and had a hard time seeing while I skied. That may have only been because I'm a petite person and the suit was built for taller people.

I recently used the Rebel Suit for skiing/boarding in Mammoth Mountain, CA. It was about 18 degrees there. The suit was able to keep me really warm. It was also very stylish and had a lot of pockets. There were many things about the suit I didn't like. When I read the measurements fot the size 4, I assumed this would fit me perfertly. It did not. It was too big and bulky. The suit was loose. It should have had a tighter fit. I looked like a garbage man(the suit was grey). I was able to wear the suit by tightening the belt but the buckle kept on coming undone while I was moving. The back pockets are really low on the pant. It has a baggy jean look. It also got in the way while I was trying to do tricks on my board. Since it is really bulky, it didn't seem aerodynamic. It felt like I was going slower when I was skiiing. Overall, I looked like a kid wearing adult size clothes. I wouldn't reccommend it for skiiers and skinny girls. However, if you like that baggy and slouchy look it would be perfect for snowboarders.

Haven't had the chance to get it out in the snow to comment on the performance of this suit. I do however, have some comments on the fit. I purchased a size 10. I normally wear a 10 on the bottom and 12 on the top and stand 5'4". The sleeves and the pant inseam are on the long side for my somewhat petite frame, but I suspect it would probably be fine for someone taller. The chest area feels a bit big too - something I rarely have a problem with when purchasing clothing. My biggest issue is the waist area: it feels low-waisted and snug. Strange because the chest area is so roomy. Also the belt buckle can be challenging to figure out (its one of those pull-thru one opening and back thru another opening pinchy things). Sure to prove to be an issue if you are wearing snow gloves. Besides the fit issues, its a great looking snow suit with lots of options. Because the price was so great (much less than the cost of purchasing pants & jacket) I'll probably keep it, make some length alterations & just wear a thicker top underneath.
