I purchased the shoes in august of 08, I ran on the trails in boston. When I first got them they were hard to get used to, rather rigid shoe without lots of squish and a tough glove to shove your foot into. I used to always run in salamon XA's but they started out squishy and got to soft too fast, difficult for off road running. So I decide to try a firmer shoe - very firm. The shoe has great traction in wet, muddy, grass, offroad, and that is what they are made for. Now I do not feel all the little pebbles I used to feel with the XA's, my feet do not get as sore while running. I perfer a thick wool sock to run with - that is the icing on the cake for these shoes, I bougth a second pair last week... now in colorado - more snow and wet, really enjoy the shoes. I run 10-15 a week at a 7min mile pace....

I own a a pair of Oboz Burn as well, but these shoes fit my feet much better. I love these. I wish I could expect to see these in the future, but I hear Oboz is discontinuing this model. Buy them while you can.

Although these shoes are fairly comfortable they do take some breaking in. The "sock like" fit is quite snug at first and they could use a better cushioning insert. Not bad for a casual hike or just kicking around.

The heel box is narrow and deep at first. After second walk/hike in them that broke in well and now feels very secure, and stable around my heel, which I like. On that second day half way through my walk I forgot I was wearing new shoes. Hard to get on first few times but that eases up fast, now they are great.
