    Nice construction, but the drag system isn't quite up to par. The click paul broke the first time out with the reel. Although Akuma's customer service was reachable, and has sent a part to repair - good thing the reel was shipped with a parts description.

    I bought this reel for coastal use but have only had a chance to use it in fresh water. I find it to be light, reliable and smooth. I have not had any problems in stripping line or retreiving. I am confident that it will be a great performer on the coast while in persuit of the heavier redfish and trout.

    Great reel for the price. Light weight reel to match a lighter weight rod. Though the drag won't be as smooth as a higher dollar reel, it is a strong drag with a good range of adjustments. The reel foot is a little on the thick side. Just make sure your rod can accomodate it.
