    No, I would not recommend this to a friend
    I bought a bunch of these when I got started climbing many years ago and have used them a lot. Lots of top rope setups, sport climbing, and trad. My biggest issue with these is that the straight section that allows for a large gate opening makes them very prone to snagging. I've had problems getting draws or trad pieces off my rack in a few desperate clips. Also, I have at least one wiregate that will stay in the open position if you push it just right instead of snapping closed. It has not lead to any unsafe situations, possibly because I avoid using them. I have and use several other Omega Pacific carabiners and they work great. I just can't say that about the Omegalite 4.0.

  • Gates MAY stay open on older biners

    Gates, with time, MAY stick open as was the case recently: not my equipment... Leading, i did not realize that the rope side on 2 draws in a row stayed in ¨gate open¨ position. I saw it as i lowered.

    After a little bit of use the gates stay open and you have to manualy close them. I bought about 10 of these biners when they first came out but stopped using them soon after. I've never had this problem with any other biner.
