On the one hand, I haven't even used mine yet so a review seems odd. On the other hand, this is the top of the line in avalanche tranceivers. If you do a little research, that's clear. I bought two, one for me and one for the wife. We have the gear and everything finally, but haven't been backcountry yet. It's a weird winter. So, with the right sale price, and possibly some of those $20 STP eDeals cards, this is great product at an amazing price.

My wife and I only have one Practice session with them but they seem to work as described. If you have always practiced with an analog or just using directional arrows it might be a harder switch to the different screen. For anyone who has not had a lot of practice it is very intuitive. The fine search was the most impressive function with the beacon it seemed to be very accurate. I have used the tracker ortovox 3+, and S1 so far I like the ortovox better then the trackers choosing between the 3+ and S1 is just personal preference on screen. I think the S1 is easier for a beginner to pick up and use with very little instruction.
