perfect fit I am 5'5'. good for day hikes

This pack is perfect for me. I hike, backpack, ice climb and back country ski (to include snow camping). There are specific places for crampons, ice axe, and I can even carry my skis on this little pack, if necessary! I think it is big enough for an overnighter. I have a trip planned for April and can't wait to use it.

Smaller version of my Atmos 65 which I really like for overnight back packing trips, this smaller size pack is great for day hikes, it beats a camel back with 3 liters of water because you can actually support the weight on your hips, and your back won't get sweaty.

I've used this pack backcountry skiing three times now, and I'm generally pleased. As other reviewers have mentioned, the vented back panel makes it different to load than traditional packs, especially if you use a dromedary in the pack ( as opposed to in the vented area next to your back, which works fine, but limits the ventilation). I've started to think of packing the right and left sides of the main compartment as separate halves, because the dromedary/ bowed stays make a hump in the center of the pack. I pack extra layers in a stuff sack, to make sure they stay dry, and I think I'll invest in two small sacks to replace the one I pack now, to accommodate this pack. The bottom line on packing: After trying a few different ways to pack the pack, it all fit nicely, and I could have fit more gear if I needed it. I would prefer more pockets ( I'm fussy about gear organization), but the one zipper pocket it has is fairly generous, and I do like the hip-belt pockets. The hip belt is very comfortable, as is the pack as a whole. I really seem to notice the weight on my back less with this pack than any other pack this size I've used. I didn't notice the sway that another user mentioned, and I think if it were a problem I would have noticed it immediately since I've been skiing with + - 30 lbs. I skied with wet snow/ rain coming down one day for about two hours, and noticed no moisture in the interior of the pack, a nice bonus after my last pack. Since my trips so far have been in temperatures mostly below freezing, I haven't given the ventilation feature a fair trial yet, but it did seem that my back was less sweaty from climbing than it has been in the past. I hope this holds true this summer in Morocco. I think this is a great pack- the best I've used in this size- but, like everything else, a few small tweaks could make it better. I will definitely look for Osprey when I'm ready to buy my next pack.

I bought this pack for winter climbing in the White Mtns in NH. Pack has performed very well. The size small pack works on my small frame (5' 4" - 150 lbs). The designer was a bit strap happy. The yellow panels admit light to the main compartment, so you're not looking into a black hole searching for things. The zipper on the top compartment is mounted awkwardly, so watch out opening it or you spill stuff out. It certainly looks very nice, and has a sleek,compact design.

This is my new day pack. It is great for fully loaded days, and also cinches down to smaller loads. I just got tired of having to have a different pack for every type of effort. This works great for smaller and bigger loads for a day. It's too small for me for overnight backpacking, but I know others use it for that. It's also great for running errands on the bike, day out with my son, etc. Very versatile, not too small or too big, super comfy. Excellent pack.

You can only take the bare necessities and water with this bag. It would not support tent or cookware. Cool and well constructed as expected with Osprey.

for day hiking

The last travel pack from STP lasted 18 yrs, and it was time toget another. The pack is kind of an odd shape for a duffel, and has no flaps or panels to cover the waist band or the pack suspension, so those parts stick out. I've already sent it back. It seems very well constructed, but not what I wanted.
