Outdoor Research Elusive Windstopper® Jacket - Soft Shell (For Men)

I use the OR Windstopper jacket on non rainy days as an alternative to my Goretex shell since my shell lacks pit zips. It is great for windy mountain ridge hikes and skiing. Jacket is well made and durable. However, some slight complaints: chest pockets too small, hand pockets too high, hood is not Windstopper material, draw cord in front, and powder skirt not needed. Otherwise, it's a great addition to my outdoor gear!

Good jacket. I wanted to buy for a long time, and the price was fianlly right. Fit and finish - great! haven't used it much to give an objective review, but im sure the jacket will do great. Bright blue color is really bright though. I exchanged mine for grey. Good stuff

I haven't used it skiing yet, but it looks like it might be a problem on really cold days, since it is a non-insulated shell, so you would have to layer up and end up with a very tight fitting jacket. I'm 5'10", 160Lbs., so a Medium size is always right for me, this jacket however is a little snug.

GREAT FOR HIKING

This jacket has a great athletic design, the large was too long at the sleeves and baggy which kind of surprised me (I'm 5 11' 180)but the medium fits perfectly. This is not a warm jacket, has no insulation, base layers are mandatory,great for serious outdoor workouts, ventilates very well, pit zips are great. People didn't like the hood design, it zips into the neck, makes neck a little bulky, hood is made of a light raincoat material that doesn't match the body but its a very minor design issue, actually works quite nicely. Really good looking, waterproof, functional, athletic jacket!

Excellent product. I use it for my running and regular wear. Very comfortable for wearing during 40-60 F weather if you're walking around, which I do a lot in NYC. For running I haven't tried yet at low 30's but at 40's it feels perfectly comfortable.

I am 186cm (6"2'), 176 lbs and my chest is 41 inch. It fits perfect with a 200wt polartec fleece. (large size) I use the jacket in rain and it is completely waterproof. I haven't use the jacket in extrem cold weathers yet. But below zero (C) I think it is not warm enough by itself.

My husband loved this jacket....lots of bells and whistles, stylish, great color.....but.....it has zippers under both arms (not a clue why they are there) and they make the armpits "tight"....so, the jacket went back. :(

Bought this for my husband - Described as a soft shell, I expected more softness in the drape of the jacket (like Cloud Veil soft shells), but it is on the stiff side - it does however stretch nicely with movement, not confining. The fabric is a bit noisy when it rubs against itself, but again, it is acceptable. Just worn twice, in cold damp weather and it was quite nice. Just a different jacket than expected.

Incredible jacket for windy cold climbs; fits under harness, yet allows freedom of movement; warm back is a nice touch especially on hanging belays in the wind. Have not used it in full on rain yet but works great in wind; Looking forward to using it skiing too.
