5.0 out of 5 stars. Love this Jacket!

I bought this jacket for work. I usually wear a heavy wool layer under it. I ordered a size small and it fits great. I like the fact that it is waterproof and its great for the elements. I would order another color if they were available in my size.

I love the full under-arm zips. Fit is perfect. Lots of room in the shoulders.

I bought this jacket to serve as a heavy-duty weather hardshell over layers. I do search and rescue in the Pacific Northwest and need something that will stand up to hours (or days) of rain and underbrush so I finally bought some GoreTex here because the price was right.
I bought the size small and I'm 5'5" and 115lbs with long arms. It fits well over layers and the hood fits over a helmet, or cinches down around my head nicely. The extra space in the upper arms and shoulders make me look like a wrestler, but it also allows for complete freedom of movement and is very comfortable. The pit zips are an excellent feature.
I wish the zippers were completely waterproof, but they may perform fine, I just haven't had the chance yet to try the jacket out in heavy rain. The velcro at the sleeves also seems like it might not stand up to hard wear.
Overall, this seems like a quality piece of gear and I'm expecting it to get years of good use.

Lightweight Gore-tex jacket. It is a good fit for me with wider shoulders and narrower hips. I love that it has vent zips that are full length down both sides for great ventilation. Will be a great outer layer in wet weather and easy to put in my pack because its light weight and packs up fairly small. I have several OR pieces and like their stuff. Nice color on this too a burgandy type color.
  • 4.0 out of 5 stars. Beautifully made rain gear with an odd fit for me

I love the lilac color of this jacket; it is truly lovely. I got it in a Large. I am 5'8", 155, a true 12. I have a very large bust which I was fearful would be an issue. No worries there, this jacket is downright baggy in the chest, shoulders and arms. The hip and waist are very tight on me. I'd not be able to wear unless I unzipped the sides. This is a very unusual fit problem got me. I love the integral hood, the pit zips and the overall usefulness of the features. I am debating keeping this because of the tight to constricted fit in the hip. Probably best for straight figures with narrow hips.
  • 4.0 out of 5 stars. decent jacket for outside activities

This jacket is a bit tight around the neck if you like wearing big scarves. I wish it was a bit longer too so my rear end is covered when it is raining. And I wish the pockets were bigger so I could fit my wallet in the inside zip pocket. Big inside mesh pockets for sun glasses or wallets would be terrific. But I think those are my only complaints so far.
I did use it today, while it was snowing and the hood cranked down well and the long vents worked great with my back pack belted down. When I started to get sweaty I simply unzipped the pit/side zips from the bottom up and cooled down nicely. The whole reason I bought this jacket was for those special "poncho" pit zips and I was super impressed with how well they worked (once I managed to unzip them with the waterproof zippers being stiff and all water-proofish). The maroon color is a nice natural color compared with all the bright jackets out there.
Overall I think this will be a good jacket. I do love Outdoor Research!

About Outdoor Research

The concept for Outdoor Research was devised in 1981 when climber Ron Gregg’s planned ascent of Denali was cut short, ending prematurely with his frostbitten partner being airlifted off a glacier. The cause was a faulty pair of gaiters. During his descent, Gregg resolved himself to create better gear, a resolution that soon led him to build the first pair of award-winning Outdoor Research gaiters. The concept was simple: Make outdoor apparel and gear with a clear focus on reliability. In the many years since, this brand has continued to blaze new trails with cutting-edge products that now include Outdoor Research gloves, jackets, backpacks and Outdoor Research hats, all engineered to exceed expectations in the most demanding conditions on the planet.
