Verified Buyer Reviewed by wearingchacosagain from Central Oregon on Wednesday, January 13, 2016Great design. Light weight enough that I am going to try it in the summer when hiking with the ear flaps down to protect my ears from the sun. The bill is long enough to provide some added sun protection as well. Looks cute too. FYI if you wear a 6 7/8th size hat this hat is big as a s/m with the flaps down. When up fit better but still a bit big.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Scott M from Southern Oregon on Wednesday, November 26, 2014I bought the large version of this hat based on other reviews. This hat was still too tight, not even the stretch in this hat could make it comfortable.
Too bad, I liked the soft shell type fabric and the ear muffs would have been nice this time of year.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by MRJB from Wisconsin on Monday, November 17, 2014Stylish and good for all temperatures. The ear flaps come in handy when the temperatures drop and the wind blows!!!
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Savana from St. Louis on Monday, October 20, 2014I got the larger size but it's still so tight that it leaves a red stripe on my forehead when I remove it. But it sure won't blow off in the wind. The ear flaps fold up nicely out of sight. The hat is light weight and wouldn't be very warm when it's real cold.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by dihedral from Seattle on Monday, April 7, 2014This hat is made of a tight-woven thick material which makes it great for keeping the head warm in cold breezy weather. It could be used at some temperatures where a lighter cap would not be warm enough. As such, this hat is not a good choice for warmer temperatures where a hat is needed for sun protection but a lack of breathability would cause over-heating. I liked the built-in crease in the middle of the brim. I could fold the hat in half and stuff it into an outer pocket on my pack without mangling the brim.
I wish the hat had a velcro strap in back for adjusting size. The hat is supposed to stretch to fit different sizes but the stretchiness is not enough. Sometimes it is nice to be able to wear a hat over a balaclava or in calm conditions to wear a hat loose for some ventilation. Also, I like to close the velcro strap around the retainer for my sunglasses to serve as a keeper in case a gust blows the hat off my head.
