This OR PacLite jacket is a great multi-use coat. It looks good, breaths well, and offers great wind/water protection - perfect for dayhikes, summer backpacks, travel, and in the rainy Pacific Northwest when walking or riding a bicycle. It isn't meant for mountaineering or extreme conditions, but as a weatherproof lightweight shell it is fantastic.

This is an affordable Pac-lite Gore-Tex hiking jacket. Comfortable fit and has the necessities, i.e. pit zips and hood that cinches down snugly. One really nice feature is the bottom rear of the coat is tapered longer than the front, so covers your rear end. Also, 70 Denier nylon exterior, means you can scrape by dried out tree branches and there will be no damage (unlike poly jackets). IMO Pac-lite made jackets are an essential for warm weather alpine hiking or hiking in the wet tropic areas, like C. America. Bonus feature - it looks sharp too!

Tried it on and sent it back. This would be a nice jacket IF you wanted to wear the hood 100% of the time, especially over a helmet, Jack-O-lantern, or grossly enlarged head. The hood is oversize, does not come off, and does not stow. It sort of rolls into a loose, very uncomfortable, very unstable, ridiculous-looking bulky mess. Or it can just hang out, like a bucket around your neck. There is no practical way to use this jacket without wearing the hood. If you can live with that you will probably love this thing.

Haven't had a chance to use this yet in wet weather, so can't comment on waterproofing/breathability, but hey, it's Gore-Tex. Anyway, excellent price for a technical piece and it looks very well-made. All seams taped, waterproof zips, helmet-compatible hood. The torso-flow zips are a nice bonus so that you can have your hip-belt or harness underneath your jacket.

Works perfectly in wet weather when hiking in Waterton/Glacier National Parks. Keeps you dry and warm but not a heavy coat.

..At a great price. I ordered one size up for layering. That one was way too big but STP's CS department is awesome and I exchanged it for the size I usually order. That one fit great on it's own and also had enough room for two base layers, a fleece and a heavy poly/cotton zip hoody with a little room to spare

Jacket is top-notch construction. Totally waterproof. Plenty of pockets - all waterproof zippers. I'm 5'11 and 185lbs. Plenty of room for layering. Arms slightly long, but with velcro wrist closures, it's good and will provide plenty of flexibility for any sport. You can't beat this jacket for the price.

Needed a shell to fill in the gaps between getting cold and really cold...and this fit the bill fine. I have a soft shell that I can combine with this to make a nice layered full winter setup. Starting to like the full zip sides on jackets - roll the front up and tuck into chest strap and vent whole chest area.

This is truly an amazing gadget, especially in Portland OR, where we sometimes can get as much as 5 inches a week! After a down pour, all that is need is a shake and all the water is whisk off. Only con I have found so far is that the zipper is difficult to zip up as you have to line both zippers before it lets you.
