I use this hat primarily for field work in the Southwest. Good things: the fabric lined brim keeps the sun from passing through onto your face and neck; unlined top portion allows for breathability; elastic band inside is nice for when the wind picks up, just pull it down lower and it stays on reall... This hat fits well and covers well without being overwhelming. The lining is great; adding a bit of style, while increasing the sun protectiveness of the hat. The neutral colors are always a good bet, especially for travel.
My husband accidentally smeared turmeric sauce on it the first day I wore it (I was using the handy neck strap to hang it off the back of my seat) and it held up beautifully to my failed attempts to scrub out the stain.
    Overall a very nice hat!

I really like this hat as the brim is not too big but still gives good shade coverage. I bought the size large and it is very roomy which is what I wanted because I hate to take my hat off and look like I've had a vise on my head! Having the chin strap is a plus for windy days. I travel a lot, so having a packable hat is very nice. It seems quite sturdy and the price was right.

The brim is cloth lined. I have not worn this hat yet, but it will be fine for shade on sunny beach days.

Practical but not plain. Versatile - gardening, paddling, out & about. Wore it to an outdoor wedding this past weekend! Nice lines, breathable. The small is perfect and does not obstruct my vision. I wear a lot of hats and this is at the top of the rotation this summer. Great price!

About Outdoor Research

The concept for Outdoor Research was devised in 1981 when climber Ron Gregg’s planned ascent of Denali was cut short, ending prematurely with his frostbitten partner being airlifted off a glacier. The cause was a faulty pair of gaiters. During his descent, Gregg resolved himself to create better gear, a resolution that soon led him to build the first pair of award-winning Outdoor Research gaiters. The concept was simple: Make outdoor apparel and gear with a clear focus on reliability. In the many years since, this brand has continued to blaze new trails with cutting-edge products that now include Outdoor Research gloves, jackets, backpacks and Outdoor Research hats, all engineered to exceed expectations in the most demanding conditions on the planet.
