    No, I would not recommend this to a friend
    It's true...this jacket is lightweight for packability but is not very warm on a really sub zero windy day. You need to add a vest or heavy sweater underneath it for really cold days. In my opinion this defeats the purpose of a down jacket.

    This jacket provides a great deal of warmth...very good quality!!! I love it!! It is a bulkier jacket so if your going more for style I wouldn't pick it! I love the fact that it is so comfy and can be tucked tightly into a stuff sack for backpacking!!

    Runs a bit big for regular street use. However, if you're planning to wear it over several layers as a coverall on winter mountain hikes as I am, then the sizing is perfect. (I should've gotten my usual L instead of the M, which is borderline too small for this purpose.)

    So I've had a chance to wear this wonderful somewhat formfitting jacket in below freezing weather. The downside of this jacket: cold can seep through the seams, particularly in the back which can be bothersome, down peeks through the three cornered seams at the top of the shoulder, which I pulled. Not much but down leakage is noticeable; a good jacket though & I'm gradually growing from a size small which I purchased to a medium so hope I can purchase another jacket like OR Refuge Down Jacket in the future.

    Too-huge hood, as others have noted, but otherwise a handsome, toasty jacket. I will wear this camping in winter or knocking around town. OR gets far too little attention/credit, from what I can tell, for their thoughtfully-designed, almost elegant-looking clothing. My husband raved about his OR jacket. It was so useful and good-looking, I took a chance on this one. You really have to try this stuff on to see how well-cut it is.
