A nice layering piece and stand alone warmer weather outer garmentReviewed by Colinsdad from MASSACHUSETTS on Wednesday, November 19, 2014After reading some other reviews, I figured I'd give this garment a shot...am certainly not disappointed! First of all, this is indeed of the same weight of a heavy sweatshirt, but with much better wind blocking properties. It fits true to size, with a large leaving enough room for a flannel shirt underneath. It stretches with movement and does have a decent amount of waterproofing with the tight knit weave of the outer material. Nice fitting adjustable hood and the drawcord adjustable hem a huge plus. My first OR product in years, and definitely not my last!

Great for the type of cold that falls in between a sweatshirt and heavy jacket. The medium fits like a medium jacket usually does. It isn't very long, so if anything go up a size.

I was hoping the jacket would be a little heavier but this was clearly not made to be a really cold weather coat.I hope my father like it.

Granted, I do have sort of a difficult figure to match clothing with (6'1", 150 lbs). But this jacket was too short, which was only exacerbated when the hood was on. (2) The material just simply didn't feel very nice or high quality. (3) The jacket just didn't feel all that warm, especially considering how heavy it is.
Other reviewers seem to like it, but it just really didn't do much for me. -

Nicely Detailed but Not TechnicalVerified Buyer Reviewed by George from NY on Thursday, June 12, 2014This is a nicely detailed jacket that gives the appearance of a technical item but is really more intended for casual wear. In fairness, the description says as much and doesn't imply otherwise. The fit is somewhat athletic, allowing it to be used as a mid-layer but not in the face of serious weather. I wouldn't recommend upsizing this item to get a fuller cut because the sleeves and the body length will probably end up being way too long. The fabric is highly breathable, stretchy and somewhat porous - I doubt there'll be any wind resistance to speak of. The fabric gives the appearance of being slightly faded cotton even though it's synthetic. It looks as if it had been comfortably worn and washed but it's not objectionable. I ordered the Evergreen color. The jacket has lots of nice technical type details which are often omitted from full zip hoodies: Nice fitting hood with adequate adjustments, high fitting collar that'll stay in place, zip napoleon and hand warmer pockets with nicely detailed zipper pulls, double hem cinches for a custom fit. All in all, it's a very nice casual item and should get a lot of use.

With winter lingering on here in Iowa I was very happy at how warm this jacket is. I expected it to be on par with a regular hooded sweatshirt, but is far warmer AND much more comfortable.
