I bought these to use for shooting and other brush-beating to help ward off ticks. Not sure how well they'll do, but they have to be an improvement over simple socks.

I am petite...5'2" and 110, and theses were so tight on my legs that I had to cut the cord that cinches them at the top. I can wear them now without them cutting off my circulation. I wear them on my trail running shoes to run snowy trails in Michigan. Unless you have very thin lower legs, these will probably be too tight.

There are some gaiters available that are lighter, but at 2.7 oz, these are plenty light! A double hook system firmly attaches them to the laces, and the silicone dots holds them securely to the heel. I used them hiking on a rough trail without affixing the Velcro or the strap, and they stayed put no problem. If I were post-holing through deep snow however, they probably would have worked lose without the extra retention, but these are not the gaiters I would choose for those conditions. In short, a good all-around gaiter for three season use.

Excellent lightweight hiking and trail running gaiter. Secures with hooks to laces in the front and a Velcro pad that glues onto the heel of your shoe.

Keep in mind that you can't pull them through shoes.

These gaiters might be perfect for running on easy trails, but they are not suited to hiking on substantial, rocky trails. I used them on a day hike up to Mts. Pierce and Jackson in the White Mountains and these things got shredded. The seams split open and the cordage got mangled into threads. To their credit, Outdoor Research set me up with another product. I highly recommend the company - just don't buy these and expect durability.
