Most Helpful 5-Star Review

5.0 out of 5 stars. Size is cut large

Bought a medium sized jacket and found out the sizing was a lot bigger than I thought it would be. I usually fit between a small and medium jacket, most of the time. So, maybe order 1 size smaller that usual if you want a snug fit. (You dont want a big loose bulky down jacket when the wind is blowing outside) Other than that, the jacket is amazing, very warm design, and down, good velcro closures for the arms, and I like the look/style of the jacket. Enjoy .

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars. Size Matters

It is a nice jacket - very light in overall weight. Just starting to get to know the layout of the chest pockets for glasses etc. However it was a bit large. I am 6' and 190 lbs. and usually wear large or x large in some things. I wanted this to be fairly trim, but found the sleeves about an inch too long and the body a little bit looser than what I wanted. I'm not sure what a medium would have been like.

We were very pleased with this purchase. Jacket runs true or a little big to size.. Quality looks to be excellent.

Runs a little large. Unless you're close to 200# I would suggest the medium.
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars. Quality Product, Great Price

This jacket is pretty much everything I need for my winter bicycle commute. It is warm, yet breathable. Bulky, yet sleek (no pesky, obstruction-causing hood). It has pockets-a-plenty, including inside pockets. And you can cinch down the wrists and midriff to keep cool air from sneaking in.
  • 4.0 out of 5 stars. Great jacket except for the zipper!

I love this jacket and it was an awesome bargain! Very warm and toasty today on a 40 degree, overcast walk with my dog. Yes, it runs large, but I layer up, so that's perfect for me. Just wish it had the freezeproof, large tooth zippers. The zipper itself works fine, and it does zip open from the top or the bottom to allow for some handy ventilation. It's just VERY hard to initially engage the zipper closure to get it started. Especially when wearing gloves! I believe the finer tooth zipper will stay up better and keep me warmer, however. As the black color is sold out, I hope I can get used to it so I don't have to return this great jacket! Only downgrade is for the hard to engage zipper.

About Outdoor Research

The concept for Outdoor Research was devised in 1981 when climber Ron Gregg’s planned ascent of Denali was cut short, ending prematurely with his frostbitten partner being airlifted off a glacier. The cause was a faulty pair of gaiters. During his descent, Gregg resolved himself to create better gear, a resolution that soon led him to build the first pair of award-winning Outdoor Research gaiters. The concept was simple: Make outdoor apparel and gear with a clear focus on reliability. In the many years since, this brand has continued to blaze new trails with cutting-edge products that now include Outdoor Research gloves, jackets, backpacks and Outdoor Research hats, all engineered to exceed expectations in the most demanding conditions on the planet.
