It's a brand not to be underestimated. Be warned - collecting Icebreaker clothing is addictive.
I can see this top getting a lot of wear... it's lightweight (190 grams/m2), but very warm as a base layer or standalone layer on mild days. Mesh panels help it breathe when you get a sweat going.
As with all Icebreaker woollen wear, it performs best when you're exercising. It breathes superbly, doesn't get clammy when damp, and insulates against cold well. But for sitting around at the end of the day, in freezing temperatures, I'd opt for this as a baselayer under fleece or down - wool doesn't have enough loft to really do the job. But, as I said, perfect as a baselayer. And - the best reason for this top - it won't get stinky on you. I'll be taking a few of these to Nepal (where you really don't want to spend your trekking time washing clothes) and I expect it to be perfect. It should make it through the week of trekking without offending my trekking partners.

The 190 gram weight feels very lightweight, but under a warmer jacket or shell feels great against the skin. The mesh panels are designed to help the top breathe a little better, if you're working up a sweat. They seem to work. All in all another quality Icebreak product.
