They fit well with adequate toe room. They were comfortable out of the box. They do scratch easily though. I plan on treating them with a leather conditioner after a while. I wore medium weight socks with them. I have not tried wearing them on long walks as I usually hike and wear sturdier footwear. The boots and the way they were laced when I got mine remind me of something little boys would have worn in the 1800's.
