Great shoes for recreational cyclists By HikerBikerBabe from Philadelphia on 08/16/2008 Pros: Durable Sole, Good for Walking, Simple to Use Best Uses: Everyday riding Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels half size too small Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I'm not an avid cyclist, so I didn't want to spend a lot of money on cycling shoes. I got a nice deal on these, and they have turned out to be a very good buy. I ride a hybrid bike, so I'm not a mountain biker, but I want my cycling shoes to be somewhat comfortable to walk in when I get off the bike. I find road biking shoes to be very uncomfortable. These shoes are a nice design, very comfortable, good stiff sole, and they work well for the level of cycling that I do. I like the fact that the velcro strip holds the laces in place so they can't get loose and/or get caught in the chain. Note that I said they feel a half-size too small. I previously ordered what should have been my size, and those shoes were too small. I went up one size, and they fit very well, so I do recommend going up one size as is recommended on this Web site. I'm sure higher end shoes would be much better for people who are serious cyclists, but these serve me very well.
By Cycling Grandma from South Dakota on 08/13/2008 Pros: Good for Cycling, Well Ventilated Cons: Front of Shoe is High, Hard to Walk In Best Uses: Long-distance riding Describe Yourself: Avid Cyclist Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I haven't ridden in them yet. But they feel like they'll be perfect.
By Pedal Pusher from Derry,NH on 07/31/2008 Pros: Durable Sole, Good for Walking, Good Traction, Simple to Use, Well Ventilated Best Uses: Everyday riding Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels half size too small Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend I was looking for a shoe with a stiffer sole than sneakers but not a fancy, cleated cycling shoe. I ride a hybrid bike that can handle rail trails, paths and roads. This shoe is like a sneaker so I can walk in it easily if I have to, yet hangs on to the pedal better than sneakers and has a nice stiff sole to make pedaling more comfortable.
This shoe was just what I was looking for. I had read the reviews before buying and they mentioned it ran small. So I bought a half size up and they fit perfectly. They do seem a little hot in the mid summer temps but that is a very minor issue for me.
