By BobintheLake from DC metro area on 03/17/2009 Cons: Defective Self-igniter, Difficult to Light Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I'm sure this was a fluke. Have had much luck with Primus in the past. Decided to take refund and buy locally, to insure I got one that worked properly.
By Haris from Chicago, IL on 09/06/2008 Pros: Compact, Hot Surface, Light Best Uses: Backcountry Camping, Day Trips, River, Survival, Winter Camping Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: It burns well and can be fueled on many alternative fuels. I did not like the way it worked with white gas--can't simmer and flame is not evenly distributed around the burning ring. No fire where the hose comes in and excessive fire on the opposite side. The pot was covered with soot which is not supposed to happen with white gas.
Otherwise, great stove, lights well, burns well, fuel lasts a long time, compact, easy to clean. Fine for boiling water or making soups. Anything solid is hard to cook.
By ScoutDad from Yakima, WA on 08/17/2008 Pros: Compact, Fast Start, stable Cons: Inconsistent starting Best Uses: Backcountry Camping, Day Trips Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought 3 of these stoves for my son's boy scout troop. The stove is very stable and the flame adjustment is set out away from the flame on top of the fuel canister. An additional benifit of having the stove sit on the gound seperately from the canister is that we were able to set the fuel canister in a small bowl of warm water to boost the performance of a canister in low temperature without upsetting the stove.
