The modal fabric is extremely soft. The one draw back is that the pattern is stitched in not printed. I noticed that the stitching can easily fray. I imagine that going through brush over rocks etc.. would damage the shirt. I would say that this is more of a casual outdoor/quick dry shirt rather than a durable hiking type shirt. Size-wise the fit is great the sleeves are a bit long, which I like since they cover and protect your arms and wrists from the sun.
