This is a great baselayer for spring, summer and fall fishing. (It's NOT made for the REALLY cold early spring, winter, and late fall days!) It's relatively warm under a fishing shirt, wicks moisture well and dries very quickly.
This summer, I tripped and filled my waders and got wet up to my neck -- then it started to rain. I'd put the River Tec Top in the back pocket of my fishing vest, so I took it out and put it on under my soaked fishing shirt. Brrrr.... It was a little damp from my spill, but it dryed out pretty quickly and warmed me up. Now, I carry it in a gallon, zip-top freezer bag in the back of my fishing vest and it's always dry and ready for an emergency. (The arms up to the elbow are made of super fast drying material for releasing fish.) Great gear!

The 4 way stretch fabric in the upper permit ease of motion for casting and reaching while the 2 way stretch in the lower section allows for easy bending and twisting. Even with extended time on the water and hiking along the river, you don't feel dampness since the multi-surfaces work well to transmit moisture and vent it off your skin. The cuff is a different material including Lycra which allows for custom fitting around your wrist. A great layering piece or just wear it as is. I've used this for cycling as well and the extended tail keeps the T from riding up. This should be good for snow sports as well. Just waiting for the snow to fall to give this a try.
