By seayhorse from DC-Baltimore on 08/30/2008 Pros: Ankle Support, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable Cons: Not lighter than air Best Uses: Day Hiking, Everyday, Light Loads Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational, Work in these boots Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend I have had a pair of these boots for years. I usually wear size 13 shoes, but bought size 12. I am getting the 13's this time arounnd, because with thick socks, the 12 is too small. These boots are pretty true to size.
I have wider feet than some (but generally fit in a medium width), with need for a big toe box. These fit.
Great support and durability, though they are not totally waterproof after the Gore-Tex wears away.
They are pitched forward a bit- good for hiking- but not too much for knocking around.
I don't see this in the modern description, but my boots (at least 5 years old) have a reinforced toe that makes them useful in worksites. I use these boots for everything from hiking to carpentry to mowing the lawn. They are great.
I have not found a boot that fits my foot or my needs better than these boots.
By Halfast from Arkansas on 08/06/2008 Pros: Ankle Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Fairly water resistant, Flexible, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable Best Uses: Day Hiking, Everyday, Light Loads Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Third pair. Not what I call totally waterproof. Good boot for lite hiking and everyday use. In summer a little hot, in Arkansas.
By Desert hiker from Sedona, AZ and Palm Springs, CA on 08/01/2008 Pros: Ankle Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Flexible Cons: Not Water Resistant, Outside toe wear Best Uses: Day Hiking, Everyday, Harsh Terrain, Light Loads Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer, Cross country hiker, Environmentalist Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is a great desert boot. I look for a boot without a Goretex liner, since Goretex tends to get too hot in the summer. These boots breathe, yet give adequate protection. I need a wide toe box, and these give it to me. Very comfortable, that's why I'm ordering pair #4 before they're gone.
