Antimicrobial? I don't think so. By eri from GA on 10/03/2009 Best Uses: Everyday, Travel, Walking Sizing: Feels half size too big Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: The shoes are comfortable like all Columbia shoes are, but I'm definitely not happy with them for a super unexpected reason. Note that I have had these shoes for about 2 months now--as opposed to some of the other reviewers.
The antimicrobial footbeds are a feature advertised so prominently that "anti-odor" is actually printed on them. Ironically, I have never had any sort of issue with foot odor and continue to have none with any other pair of shoes I own. But the shoes began to smell within just a week or so of normal indoor wear (I have hardwood floors). It's unpleasant enough that the smell is left on my feet when I take them off. They smell like dirty sneakers belonging to someone who didn't wear socks, yet these are not even closed shoes--very strange. If they had not boasted the 'anti-odor' feature, I would just cut my losses and eventually retire them. But I find it too ironic that this special feature has the opposite result.
One other smaller con is that the leather thong is attached to the footbed with a ribbon. I'm not sure how long that will actually last, particularly since I bought these to replace my last pair (which had a cloth thong that eventually got weaker) after it came apart right at that place (which gets a lot of strain from walking after awhile). I can't understand why a sportswear company like Columbia would make somewhat rugged sandals with a feature like that. Why not leather?
By Dog walker from Minneapolis, MN on 09/10/2009 Best Uses: Barbecues, Everyday Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Great for throwing on for a quick walk or trip to the store. I did size down as recommended and that seems just about right.
By Vacationer from TX on 08/17/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Durable Best Uses: Travel, Walking Describe Yourself: Casual, Stylish Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I waited to review these until I had time to really wear them. I took them on a 2 week vacation. They're very support and my feet did not feel tired, however they did chafe and I got a blister after wearing them all day. They're also a little heavy. They do have great traction and comfort though.
