The fit of the knife into the sheath is very loose.

Hossom is a reknown custom knife designer, active on knife forums, and writes very favorably regarding Spyderco's implementation of his design.The N690Co blade steel is stainless and reportedly is comparable to ATS-34. Jimping on the thumb rest and well-designed handle give the knife a very secure feel in the hand. The Boltaron sheath appears to be identical to Kydex -- it is well made and holds the knife securely. As a bonus, the sheath is ambidextrous and, by flipping and/or rotating the clasp can be mounted in several positions (left, right, crossdraw, horizontal)."Dayhiker" seems an inappropriate moniker for the knife. It's a medium/large knife in the "chopper" style. That said, the drop point and stoutness and sweep of the blade make it suitable for general camp and hunting chores. While not a "fighter," the Dayhiker is surprisingly agile and light in the hand and would perform well in that capacity. The bottom line -- if you like medium/large, semi-custom knives, you'll love this knife. The Hossom Woodlander (also on sale) is the big brother of the Dayhiker. I have both and prefer the Dayhiker.

Outstanding craftsmanship. Knife is heavy enough to take on any chore. Unique handle fits your hand like a glove. Super sharpe blade. I ordered another I like it so well.
