I wanted sturdy, stylish black leather boots, water resistant, lace-up design. I also did not want steel toes so that I can get a better feel for the brake and shifter. It took 2 or 3 days of wearing them to really break them in but considering how thick the leather is, that's no surprise, and not a bad thing. This was my 5th pair of Chipp boots. Still have all of them. These boots last and last if you polish and waterproof them every few months.
