I'm 5'2" consider myself an average size 8 and I found these to be a small size 8...I can live with that. I also thought they were low waisted as opposed to the "just below waist" description...can live with that too. The clencher was this gap of excess fabric that buckled out on the back of the waistband which was something I was not willing to live with...these are going back.

I like them so much I have them in several colors! I could wish the front pockets were a little bigger; you can put really small things in there (if you don't mind potentially losing them), but I wouldn't put keys in unless they were on a clip attached to the belt loop! I just use the side pockets - ends up jingling a bit and they're not as convenient to get to, but the snap pocket closure means they're extra secure!

I love the length. It's shorter than a capri. Not for bike riding, the low waist would expose too much.
