An investment well worth the price! By Cheap Yankee from Sunapee, NH on 11/06/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Stylish, Warm Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living, Winter Sports Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I've been looking for a while for really warm mittens--gloves just don't cut it when skiing in the single digits here in NH. I was amazed at how comfortable these were - like pillows for your hands, yet they didn't feel overly bulky at all. The leather will be more upkeep than other materials, but I consider these an investment, and I'll be willing to weatherproof if they prove as exceptionally warm as they promise! I liked that the gauntlet is plenty long to cover my wrist, though the lack of heat pack pocket is a minor downside. Not enough to give these any less than five stars, mind you, and I've looked at/tried on a *lot* of mittens! Definitely worth a try if your fingers are chronically cold in other mittens and gloves. However, I don't think I'd ever wear them over 15-20 F--they'd feel hot!
By Powderfool from North Tahoe on 10/22/2009 Pros: Durable, Warm, Water Resistant, Windproof Best Uses: Skiing, Snowshoeing Describe Yourself: Advanced Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living, Winter Sports Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These mittens will keep you warm!! They have ample insulation and still maintain enough dexterity to hold poles for winter sports. Probably not wear-resistant enough for dragging hands in the snow. Some Hestra products have a small tag on them that states "Not for Snowboard". These didn't, but if you drag you hands in the snow the leather might not hold up as well as some Kevlar or other heavy duty synthetic material
By The Hammer from East Bay, CA on 08/30/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Warm Describe Yourself: Competitive Athlete Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living, Winter Sports Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is my third Hestra, so you know I like their products. These are well made, super-warm mitts suitable for very cold weather. Don't even think of using them above 20 degrees F, they will be too warm.
