Columbia makes a very comfortable, durable shoe. This was a gift for my Mom, which we both loved but was too small for both of us and even too small for my 21 year old daughter, so I do think they are made too narrow.

There is enough support and comfortable--I can't wear flats due to tendinitis. There was no need to "break-in" but I don't think I could wear it all day without socks. These are very, very casual.
