Said it ran large and I was excited I could buy it but it must be true to size because I could barely put it on.

No need for a scarf when you button the neck. Love the ribbon trim inside, and the green tweed color of the coat. Very "old world". I ordered one size smaller and it was perfect, but I don't think this is cut for real slender women. Not suitable for extreme cold, but warm and not heavy for moderate winters.
