By DogPatch from Seattle on 06/15/2008 Describe Yourself: Bargain Shopper Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: The zipper broke immediately. The large pockets are too big for the design. A little to bulky.
Informal, yet dressy Walking Coat By Upstate Traveler from Saratoga Springs, NY on 12/31/2007 Pros: Attractive Design, Versatile, Very effective neck piece Best Uses: Daily Use, Going Out, Travel Describe Yourself: Bargain Shopper, Trendy Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: When a ski jacket is too informal and an overcoat too formal, this Austrian Loden Walking Coat fills the bill. I would use this garment in commuting and traveling. The material is rather light weight, so this item is not meant for harsh weather. Although the zipper neck closure extends the useful range of this coat by effectively shutting out wind and snow. The attached hood is useful for extreme conditions, although the nylon roll-up hood seems more appropriate on a ski jacket than on this stylish town coat.
The fit is rather generous. It is best used over a sweater or suit jacket.
Great coat, with a couple of minor flaws By Ken from NJ on 12/01/2007 Pros: Attractive Design, Good Cut, Lightweight, Warm Cons: A smidge large, Pockets positioned oddly, Zipper on wrong side Best Uses: Daily Use, Going Out Describe Yourself: Career, Casual Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I love this coat; it's very warm when zipped/buttoned up, but surprisingly lightweight.
The down side: while the buttons are on the right, the zipper is on the left, which seems to be a European thing. I'm hoping I get used to that soon, because it's driving me nuts right now -- but I've only had the coat for a few days. You guys might want to put on a big jacket of your wife's or girlfriend's and see how odd it feels to zip on the wrong side.
It's also a little on the big side -- I think JUST a little, not quite enough to return it, as I think the next size down would be too snug. The pockets are also a little oddly positioned -- there's completely vertical ones with flaps you can put gloves in, as well as slanted ones that go behind them, if that makes any sense, that you can put your hands in -- but the entrance to them is a LITTLE lower than ideal. This might again be because it's a little too large.
Still, I love it.
