These shoes are fine for those. I would recommend wearing them a couple of days around town before hiking in them. It has taken several hikes to break them in, so they are comfortable. They are a little stiff and tight around the toes; ordering 1/2 a size larger may help this. I decided to try these to replace some old Chameleon Wrap hikers; the Wraps are better.
