Excellent Outdoor Work Boot By Zappa from SW Oregon on 06/26/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Great Traction, Heel Box, Sturdy/Durable Best Uses: Day Hiking, Everyday, Harsh Terrain, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer, Professional/Guide Sizing: Feels half size too small Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I am employed by the National Park Service as a maintenance worker in the Pacific Northwest. I can be working under vastly different conditions, ranging from indoor computer work, hiking 8 miles with 40-60# pack to trail creation and rock work. Best job in the world! These boots were purchased for additional arch and heel support due to a long-term problem with plantar fasciitis. Problem is now improved dramatically since purchase. I normally wear a size 12.5-13 medium work boot. These boots were ordered at size 13 and fit fine for the first week or so. Then, as the sole & leather started to flex, I began to notice my toes bumping the front of the toe box, particularly on decents of any consequence. The only option to address the problem was an arch support insert to stabilize the foot within the shoe. Wonderful boot, well constructed, but the sole inserts that come with the boot need to be replaced with something more sustantial.

By Tele-Bob from KS/Mo Line on 06/22/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Everyday, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These are the best so far! This 2nd pair will be my back up while I can get em at this price! And I went another 1/2 size smaller - 1st were 8.5W these are 8W. Replacing my Danner Size 9
I have feet with a fat ball area, skinny ankles & a high arch. And the way I walk,I destroy shoes & boots in less than a year. I have a trunk full of resoled Army issue boots ranging from 7.5XW to 9's, so much for standard shoe sizes. And 2 of the optional Matterhorns from the 10th Mnt Div. A favorite for extreme wet & winter. But I wore those out & the resole ruined the H20 proof as did the restitch due to water proofing ruining the threads and my feet would sweat(ie gortex boots)- by the 2nd pair they were not warrantied if you used snowseal (issued 1st time)or any other treatment. SO be ware of any extra treatment for your shoes. I now work winters for a small ski resort and my 1st pair that were a little long work great with heavy socks on snow & ice daily and into the office for the paperwork without worries of feet starting to sweat. Theses are not a cushy soft boot - but built the way they should be - tough & comfortable with in reason. AND these have helped my chronic low back pain :-)
