By MJ from Vancouver, BC on 06/16/2008 Pros: Ankle Support, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable Best Uses: Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Long-Distance Hiking Describe Yourself: Professional/Guide Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I first had a pair of Alico boots in the early 90s and they lasted me several years. These boots are great in all conditions on everything from foot paths, cliffs and scree (they are great to scree ski in)
For me the break in time wasn’t that long or pain full I just wore them around camp for a few days first and they were fine. I always have two pairs of socks on with a thick wool sock over a thin inner sock. You can always adjust the fit with different combinations of socks.
I have been looking for a pair of boots like this for a while and jumped at the chance to own them again. They feel great and I’m going to get a spare pair so I will be set for years.
I recommend these boots without any hesitation if you need a real back country hiking/packing/climbing boot.
