Great fit for my duck feet By nukeman from Santa Maria on 08/24/2008 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Took a little break in by wearing them once or twice a week before my first trip . The real test was a 9 day 60 mile backpacking trip in the Sierra . I have duck-like feet ( narrow heels and wide toes ) so I have a difficult time fitting boots . Blisters are S.O.P. for me . These fit great and I had no blisters. Great support , held up to rugged terrain and heavy load . The soles didn't wear as much as some of my other boots with Vibram soles . I'm tempted to buy another pair ........
Good Sturdy Boot for Price By Sacker from Vernal, UT on 08/22/2008 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Sturdy/Durable, Water Resistant Cons: Laceseyelets cheap, Not Comfortable Best Uses: Cold Weather, Day Hiking, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Light Loads, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought an 11 Wide. Very stiff boot. I got a blister on my right foot on my first 5 mile break in hike. Inside of back heel has stitches that can rub. Wear heavy socks and keep dirt and sand out of boot. My next hike one week later(11 miles) reaggraved the blister somewhat. My next hike one week after that (15 miles) reaggravated the blister again but it was fine for another 15 miler the next day. Boot fits my foot well. I have weak ankles, but never felt any weakness while hiking. No hammer toe or other discomfort going steeply up or down. Boots are a little hot but should breath better with time. I have not backpacked with the boots but I did heavy day hikes and feel they will perform well no matter how much weight I carry. Boots are fairly light weight for the protection they provide. They go on easy and lace quickly. The laces are a little cheap and will wear out quickly from wear on the open-faced eyelets at the top. The fabric eylets below the metal open-faced ones look like they will also wear quickly. Overall I'm happy with the boots so far.
most comfort out of the box By martyroc from toledo, Ohio on 08/21/2008 Pros: Comfortable/No Break-In, Flexible, Sturdy/Durable, Water Resistant Cons: Traction on wet rocks Best Uses: Cold Weather, Everyday, Long-Distance Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is about the fifth pair of hicking boots that i ownn and it is by far the most comfortable. I purchased it with no time to break them in. I used them in New Hampshire for a week of backpacking and was impressed by the boot. The only improvement that could be made to the boot is if it would have better traction on wet rocks.
