great reel for the money, a true value By Cugr from Folsom CA on 06/01/2009 Pros: Durable, Reliable, Smooth Drag System, Smooth Reeling Best Uses: Fly Fishing, River Fishing Describe Yourself: Avid Fisher Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Ross doesnt make a bad reel....though the top of the line reels are cutting edge, beautiful machines...I gave this reel 5 stars because of the value and quality for the dollars spent...it was actually nicer than I thought it would be.

The reel is well made, with a smooth drag, and will serve my purposes well. IMO-you don't need a precision machined, ultra-light weight, high tech reel for 90% of fresh water fly fishing in the US (although I do have one!). At the price I paid on clearance for this reel, I couldn't even buy an extra spool for my other reel! One of the best "value for money" deals out there. Way to go Sierra Trading Post!
