This was not the case for me. I went up a half size and they feel nearly a whole size too large. They are attractive and very nice shoes.

They're sturdy enough for light trail hikes, and so well finished that my fragile feet can wear them without socks. If you have very narrow feet, these are for you.

The insole is VERY comfortable. After reading the reviews, I expected these to be a bit narrow-feeling, and they are. I have never had a problem with normal shoe width, and I do believe that these shoes just need to be broken in. Also following the reviews, I ordered a half size larger. At first, my heels were slipping out as I walked, but now I'm noticing them conforming to my feet more.
