Know what you are getting By John from Riverside, CA on 08/24/2008 Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: As a knife collector, the Bear & Sons knives don't have the best fit and finish, very good, but not top notch. They've always been very solid, like a classic pocket knife, but not like a boutique knife. They are really of the old school; I have a couple and they are all rugged and well made, great for actual use.
As for the comment about the"blades not being sharp" the second blade is a spatula. It should be dull and is used traditionally for mixing medications and sorting pills. It's a good mustard and mayo spreader.
As for the first blade not being sharp, if you know how to put a blade on a knife and have your own theories about blade sharpening, like I do, then I love it. I can put the exact blade on it that I want. The stock Bear & Son's sharp blade tends to be at what I think is a wrong angle for my purposes. It's actually pretty nice to do it myself the way I want it. I think that's a plus. You might not.

They both are blunt with no indication that anyone tried to sharpen them.
