By George K from PA on 07/21/2008 Pros: Accurate Casting, Easy To Transport, Sensitive Describe Yourself: Avid Fisher Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Very good value-for-money at the closeout price. At full price there would be better options.
By Trout Master from Montana on 05/09/2008 Describe Yourself: Professional Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Not as fast as I thought it would be. I bought 5 of these rods though from Sierra because you really can't beat the price. The 8 weight does not throw as far as I thought it would. The small 3 weight is really really nice. By AF Saint from Boston on 04/24/2008 Pros: Accurate Casting, Durable, Easy To Transport, Good Tip Action, Sensitive Best Uses: dedicated trout rod, Fly Fishing, River Fishing Describe Yourself: Avid Fisher Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is a typically nice design from Powell. I own 4 of their rods and the TiMax 4 weight is a nice combination of mid taper strength and tip flexibility. You can throw some string with this rod but laying down tiny dry flies is nicely handled. A very good all-round trout rod. Well designed and well finished and consistent with Powell's reputation for making well thought out rods.
