The large shorts fit me just fine; I'm not sure the medium would have. I've worn the shorts for a few rides of about 15 miles and still feel like I can do the run leg of a sprint triathlon. These are my first bike shorts, so I have nothing to compare them to, but they feel good and look like they will hold up.

I bought multiple pairs and was comfortable in RAGBRAI every day.
