I also spend some time at a friends cabin in Benton, PA out near Bloomsburg. It's definitely not Everest but good snow means I needed good boots. My lightweight combats were never really the best option. I bought 2 different brands and these won out.
They are definitely a solid boot and very warm. The lacing set up for me is a plus. No metal rings or speed lace hooks that can break. The removable inner boot is nice for airing them out. They aren't heavy but they are no lightweight either. They just take a bit of getting used to and breaking in. For the price it was a no brainer. I love these boots and I am so glad I got them when I did.
The only con I have is that the gusset is only stitched 3/4 up the boot. It makes for easy on and off and they tighten up good enough to keep the snow out but it is the only drawback I have on them. It is not an issue for me but I could see it being a concern for someone shopping around.
